A series of black and white photos of a seemingly beefed up young man clad only in designer briefs has been the talk of town for the past 24 hours. His flexed arms and torso are heavily tattooed, and in some, he is wearing a heavy pout, with a come hither look in his eyes.

Who is he? you wonder. Why, it’s none other than 20-year-old Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who has been chosen as the new face of iconic underwear brand Calvin Klein! In the photographs captured by Mert & Marcus, the boy-man poses with supermodel Lara Stone, with her draped over him like a vine. Evidently, the pop star will join the ranks of Mark Wahlberg, who has been a Calvin Klein model in the past.

This move by the popular brand had the social media, especially Twitter, abuzz with both positive as well as negative comments. Some have speculated whether his buffed image was thanks to use of supplements, which was confirmed by the 20-year-old when he tweeted, “Myo-x supplement helped me with my workouts thanks [diet supplement exec] Carlon Colker,” on Thursday.

Not just taking supplements, but the singer has had to prep his body for the shoot by working out with a trainer for 45 minutes, five days a week.

Bieber told US Weekly, “We do three days splits: back and triceps one day, chest and biceps on day two, shoulder and legs on day three, and abs every other day.” Seems like a bit much for an underwear photo shoot, but if he isn’t in perfect shape, nobody would look at his pics, would they?

He even piled on the calories by eating junk food: “I’m not [on] a special diet, but I do try to watch what I eat. I do eat unhealthy sometimes – I am a 20-year-old guy!” he said.
