Decorating a room is a big deal. It is a personal space, where you add elements according to your taste so that you feel safe and at-home in that place. It is an area of rest and peace, which cannot be achieved unless you have decorated it the way you like it. However, not everyone is sure about what they want, or what they can do to make the room look exactly like the way they wanted. Oftentimes, the gazillion options out there confuse you, when you are trying to figure out how to decorate your room.

We’ve all heard of feng shui and other forms of arrangement like Zen, which is supposed to allow you to arrange furniture in such a way that you can channel positive energy into your home. However, decorating your room according to your zodiac allows you to channel your tastes and your personalities, because whether you believe in astrological signs or not, there is definitely some common ground that people born under the same sign share.

This guide doesn’t seek to dictate the only way that you can decorate your room, because each person is a unique combination of different signs, and your tastes can always overlap. However, this guide on how to decorate your room based on your zodiac is simply a source of inspiration for those who want to channel the dominant parts of their personality in their room décor, so that the chances of you feeling at home, increase substantially.

ARIES (March 21^st – April 19^th)

One of the most telling characteristics of those born under the Aries sign is their fiery passion. They like a lot of energy and light in their life, which when reflected in their room will create a wholesome environment for them to thrive.

Typically, an Aries will like to have a lot of bright colors in their room, especially the color red and other warm colors, because they are born under the planet Mars. They are also partial to big windows, asymmetrical furniture arrangement and colorful room décor. Big windows allows in a lot of light, which is exactly what would make them comfortable, and give them an opportunity to manifest their extrovert nature.

What defines the room is the fiery, often energetic nature of the room, which is a typical sign of an Aries inhabitant.

TAURUS (April 20th – May 20^th)

For a Taurus, there is nothing which takes precedence over comfort. Whether they have a large space that they need to decorate or a small one, they are going to find ways to make it their nest, where anyone who steps in can feel at home.

Because of their affectionate and outgoing nature, they like to keep all their possessions displayed, which is why you will probably find a lot of stuff in their room, all displayed in the classiest way possible.

GEMINI (May 21st – June 21^st)

One word that can describe a Gemini’s interior designing aesthetics is eclectic. Being born under the air sign, they like their space comfortable and practical. One of the most compelling characteristics of a Gemini is the fact that they are immensely creative creatures and seek out inspiration wherever they go.

Therefore, it is only fitting that their room, the most personal space in a person’s life, is also brimming with creativity, inspiration, and a space to manifest their creative output.

They also tend to prefer light, pastel shades, which have a cooling effect on the mind, and it is not unsurprising to find a workstation or an office or a desk in a Gemini’s room. CANCER (June 22^nd – July 23^rd)

Cancerians are all for nostalgia and holding on to memories. They are sentimental creatures, and like their emotional side to reflect in their rooms. These rooms usually come in warm tones, with mellow lighting, comfortably, homely upholstery and a lot of personal effects.

Room decoration essentially consists of antiques that have been passed down for generations, picture frames, books, CDs, vinyl, etc. It is a comfortable, homely, rooted environment that they seek to create in their rooms.

LEO (July 24^th – August 23^rd)

Like their sign, Leos tend to be very fierce when it comes to the décor of their rooms. Since they are automatic leaders, they don’t like to settle for anything but the best. Their rooms reflect the luxurious, royal state of mind that they are constantly in, and make sure that even if it is a small room, it is decorated with the best of everything.

Rich tones of silver and gold and bright colors like red and teal are not uncommon in a typical Leo room. However, despite the posh nature of the room, there is a sense of comfort that they manage to imbibe in the general atmosphere, which makes their rooms the perfect den for their personalities.

VIRGO (August 24^th – September 22^nd)

Virgos are generally introverted by nature. They are simple creatures who like to live simply, a sentiment which is also reflected in the way that they decorate their rooms. They are the pinnacle of organization, and you won’t find a hair out of place when you step into the room of a Virgo.

They like symmetry in their rooms, and tend to decorate their space with unconventional articles, which you might not find elsewhere. They prefer neutral tones in grays, whites and blacks.

LIBRA (September 23^nd – October 22^nd)

Libras are all about balance and symmetry, which is why there is a constant sense of uniformity in their rooms. Even the mess they create in their room serves an aesthetic purpose.

They prefer a sense of outdoors, even when they are inside, which makes them a little partial to rustic tones in wood and raw colors like greens and browns. They prefer to decorate the indoors with plants and other hipster furniture, which makes their rooms different from everyone else’s.

SCORPIO (October 23^rd – November 22^nd)

Scorpios are some of the most intriguing people. You never know what they are truly thinking, and they usually have a secretive, often complex personality underneath a fun and open exterior. This is also one of the most obvious signs in their bedrooms and houses, which is replete with textures and layers, which are often incongruent.

They tend to play around with colors, and use different kinds of fabrics an mismatching furniture to create a whimsical, yet welcoming environment, that you are not really sure how to react to.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23^rd – December 20^th)

Sagittarius is the earthy zodiac sign, super grounded and super rooted to their element. You are likely to find a lot of wild, exotic elements in their room, like bog plants, wood, branches, thick rugs and other forms of expensive upholstery.

A number of beautiful elements come together to create a lovely, stimulating environment, which goes well with their personality. Their fondness of, and attachment to the outdoors is represented in some form or the other, through their interior designing choices.

CAPRICORN (December 21^st – January 20^th)

When you step into the room of an Capricorn, you are bound to be blown away by the architectural ingenuity of the place. Because of their headstrong and determined nature, they are the first to adopt a modern design or new technique, which makes their rooms practical, futuristic and gorgeous.

AQUARIUS (January 21^st – February 19^th)
