If a Disney’s ‘Frozen’-themed proposal is possible, then Disney is going one step further, and presenting an “Elsa” wedding dress!
That’s right. The much-loved Disney movie, Frozen, has found its way into fashion. Disney Consumer Products is teaming up with wedding and bridesmaid gown designer Alfred Angelo to bring Elsa’s stunning, sparkling blue Snow Queen dress to life. Michele Piccione, the chief creative officer of Angelo, and the designer of the dress, took inspiration from the famous song, “Let it Go,” from the movie.
The song signifies a sea change in Elsa’s character, as she stops hiding and being afraid, and embracing her true self, along with her icy powers. “We wanted to translate Elsa’s inner beauty and individuality into a sophisticated gown that exudes this,” said Michele.
The high-fashion Elsa wedding dress is an ice-blue, softly flared sheath gown with a sweetheart neckline made with layers of satin, tulle, organza, and glitter net. The dramatic beading in swirling patterns over the gown, makes it sparkle just as bright as Elsa’s icy dress. And the Watteau train of the wedding dress drapes from the shoulders to the floor, for a regal and elegant finish. Here’s a conceptual sketch of the wedding gown:
This colored wedding gown theme has been the “in” trend this wedding season. Famous fashion designers, from Vera Wang to Oscar de la Renta to Edgardo Bonilla to Monique Lhuillier, have in their 2015 bridal collections, wedding gowns in soft hues of pink, yellow, tea green, to the traditional white, ivory, and beige.
The Disney Boutique carries dresses based on other Disney characters like Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog,” Jasmine from “Aladdin,” Belle from “The Beauty and the Beast,” and many more, besides their newest Elsa gown from “Frozen.” Each of these beautiful gowns costs about $1,200.
The beautiful ice-blue Frozen-inspired Elsa wedding gown will hit the markets in January 2015.
Till then, just ‘let it go’!
Story Update on October 10, 2014
About 3 weeks ago, Disney had given its viewers and admirers a sneak-peek of a sketch of its latest wedding gown inspired by yet another Disney Princess, Queen Elsa from the Oscar-winning movie ‘Frozen.’ Last night, Disney and designer Alfred Angelo, unveiled the much-talked and much-hyped about wedding gown at the New York Bridal Week. The dress is an ice-blue version of the dress worn by Queen Elsa, while she renders her epic song, ‘Let it Go,’ in the movie. Take a look at the beautiful wedding gown here:
That’s not all. While the bride can blush and glide down the aisle wearing this gorgeous dress, her flower girl can wear a somewhat similar dress to match the bride. The adorable little blue flower girl dress matches the ice blue of the ‘Elsa,’ and has a tulle, tea-length skirt, semi-sheer straps and a bejeweled bodice. This cute dress is every little girl’s dreams.
That’s not all. A red Snow White dress and a purple Jasmine dress also made their debuts on the ramp during the New York Bridal Week. All these dresses, including the ‘Elsa’ and the flower girl dress, are available online and in stores this January 2015.
