You have #FashionGoals, #SquadGoals, #WeddingGoals, and then you have #WeightLossGoals. While the former will happen when you choose to, the last one among the list has a mind of its own, it seems. You try everything from a strict diet combined with a vigorous bout of exercise, aerobics, yoga, and whatnot. But you just can’t seem to get those pounds off you. What to do then?
Start drinking wine before bed!

A study conducted at Washington State University from July 2015 suggests that wine helps in weight loss. This is because of a chemical called resveratrol that is present in wine. Resveratrol, found in red wine, apparently helps convert ‘white fat’ in your body to ‘beige fat,’ which is easier to burn off. In essence, the chemical works in the body as a means to stop fat cells from gaining more fat, thereby helping you remain slim.
According to scientists from a separate study done in 2012, drinking at least two glasses of wine before bed can help beat obesity by 70%. The reason for this is because the calories in the wine help keep you feeling full, thereby reducing the need for late night snacking.

While this news may make you rejoice with a glass of wine, don’t. While it’s okay to drink a glass or two before bed, alcohol before bed has been known to disrupt healthy sleep patterns. Besides, you can get a hold of resveratrol in other ways, through consuming berries like strawberries, grapes, and blueberries. Of course, you can eat berries as well have that glass of wine before bed too, but we suggest you stick to healthier ways of getting the necessary chemical than to break open a wine bottle.
Professor Min Du of Washington State University said,
“Many of the benefits of polyphenols are insoluble and get filtered out during the wine production process.”
Another study done by the University of Denmark backs this study up with its findings. It found that people who drank every day had slimmer waistlines than their sober counterparts. Could there be happier news than this? 😛
So if you’re looking to lose those few extra pounds, you might want to have a glass of wine – in moderation, of course – after a hard day of work. If someone says you’re drinking too much, show them this study that will back up your claim to weight loss by drinking wine before bed!
