P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern is a novel that teaches one to let go and embrace a new life, a new love.
Holly loves her husband to bits, and cannot imagine a life without him, until one day she has to. Gerry and Holly are a young married couple so much in love that they would finish each other’s sentences. But when Gerry dies due to a terminal illness, Holly is left with nothing to live for, except a series of letters written to her by Gerry. The letters and constant support from her family and friends help Holly laugh and live again.
This novel is a must read. It has a cross-generational appeal and a love letter to the world.

Best quotes from P.S. I Love You
Today, we are going to share with you some of our favorite quotes from P.S. I Love You.
- On finding a true soulmate
“Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling. A soul mate is someone who understands you like no other, loves you like no other, will be there for you forever, no matter what. They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after we’re gone.”
- The wonderful gift of life
“She had been given a wonderful gift: life. Sometimes it was cruelly taken away too soon, but it’s what you did with it that counted, not how long it lasted.”
- To experience more life, more love, and make new memories
“She was a woman who made mistakes, who sometimes cried on a Monday morning or at night alone in bed. She was a woman who often became bored with her life and found it hard to get up for work in the morning. She was a woman who more often than not had a bad hair day, who looked in the mirror and wondered why she couldn’t just drag herself to the gym more often; she was a woman who sometimes questioned what reason had she to live on this planet. She was a woman who sometimes just got things wrong. On the other hand, she was a woman with a million happy memories, who knew what it was like to experience true love and who was ready to experience more life, more love and make new memories.”
- How she loved him
“Most of all she loved that when she hugged him her head would rest neatly just below his chin, where she could feel his breath lightly blowing her hair and tickling her head.”
- Perfect little moments
“But Holly, nobody’s life is filled with perfect little moments. And if it were, they wouldn’t be perfect little moments. They would just be normal. How would you ever know happiness if you never experienced downs?”

- Some go through life searching and never finding
“Some people go through life searching and never find their soul mates. They never do. You and I did, we just happened to have them for a shorter period of time than we hoped for. It’s sad, but it’s life. So you go to this ball, Holly and you embrace the fact that you had someone whom you loved and who loved you back.”
- S. I Will Always Love You
“It’s to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful… literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you’re sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you’ll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I’m a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I’m just one chapter in yours. There’ll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don’t be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you.”
- Just create something new
“All I know is, if you don’t figure out this something, you’ll just stay ordinary, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a work of art, or a taco, or a pair of socks! Just create something… new, and there it is, and it’s you, out in the world, outside of you, and you can look at it, or hear it, or read it, or feel it… and you know a little more about… you. A little bit more than anyone else does… Does that make any sense at all?”
- You are with him
“I bet you’ve had a hard time walking into a room full of people on your own, right? Yeah. I know that. I know what it is, not to feel like you’re in the room, until he looks at you or touches your hand or even makes a joke at your expense, just to let everyone know… you’re with him. You’re his.”
10. You brought me back from the dead
“Dear Gerry, you said you wanted me to fall in love again, and maybe one day I will. But there are all kinds of love out there. This is my one and only life. And it’s a great and terrible and short and endless thing, and none of us come out of it alive. I don’t have a plan… except, it’s time my mom laughed again. She has never seen the world. She has never seen Ireland. So, I’m taking her back where we started. Maybe now she’ll understand. I don’t know how you did it, but you brought me back from the dead.”
