Best Home Remedies For Exfoliation You Need To Try Right Now

According to the American Academy of Dermatology,

“Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the outer layer of your skin. While some people believe that this improves the appearance of their skin, it’s not for everyone and – if not done properly – could do more harm than good.

If you choose to exfoliate, it’s important to do so safely so that it does not damage your skin or lead to increased redness or acne breakouts.

Since every type of exfoliation may not work for every skin type, it’s important to consider your skin type before choosing an exfoliation method:

  • Sensitive skin may sting or burn after product use

  • Normal skin is clear and not sensitive

  • Dry skin is flaky, itchy or rough

  • Oily skin is shiny and greasy

  • Combination skin is dry in some areas and oily in others”

The remedies can also be used to scrub lips.

A word of caution before we proceed: There is always a chance that your skin might be allergic to the remedies on this list. So before you go ahead with any of these ingredients, do a little patch test and see for yourself. You will need to be the judge.

The first remedy on our list is oatmeal. It is an amazing natural scrub that suits almost all skin types. Oatmeal contains saponins which help get rid of the dead skin cells, dirt, excess moisture and sebum from the skin. It is particularly beneficial for people with oily skin type with overactive sebaceous glands.

Oatmeal also contains several nutrients like vitamins and minerals, which improve the health of the skin. The protein in oatmeal, for example, helps prevent the loss of water from the skin, which in turn, ensures that the skin remains moisturized for a long time.

For the remedy, mix two tablespoons of oatmeal with two tablespoons of plain yogurt. Add to this, a tablespoon of honey, and mix the paste well. Apply this as a mask on your face, and massage in circular motion. This will help exfoliate the dead skin cells and get rid of the dirt and excess oil which tend to clog the skin pores. After massaging for 10-odd minutes, leave the pack on for another 15 minutes. Now wash your face with cool water, and pat it dry using a clean and soft wash cloth. Remember to moisturize your face well.

Repeat the remedy twice a week for the first month, and then continue once a week.

For the remedy, you need to mix half a cup of sugar with about three tablespoons olive oil. Try to get your hands on extra-virgin olive oil. ‘To be or not to be’ if that’s the question, I would always want to be who I am – a lover, who binges on ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ every Christmas; that is, if she decides not to wallow in bed with ‘Wuthering Heights’! The other thing that I absolutely love is weddings! Well, who doesn’t like being in a room full of love stories, eh?!
