The health of your hair is ruined by a number of factors. Some of the most common of these factors include anxiety and stress, genetic problems, medications of specific medical conditions, underlying illness, lack of a good ritual for hair care, and use of very strong chemical hair care products.
Each of these factors contribute greatly (inversely!) to the health of your hair, but the most important of the causes is the diet that you follow. If you are not eating healthy, then it is highly unlikely that your hair will be healthy.
While using ayurvedic shampoos, applying natural hair masks, treating the hair with homemade serums can improve your hair, nothing works better for the scalp and the hair shafts than having a nourishing and a healthy diet.
The problem with frizzy hair is that it makes your hair look dull, without any shine, and damaged. Your tresses are not bouncy, they cannot be styled or colored because that just makes them look worse. I used to have frizzy hair, and I know how difficult it is to deal with. No matter what I would do, my hair would look bad. Using Ayurveda to solve your hair problem is a great idea.
These secret ingredients that I will be sharing with you today will help bring back the moisture to your dry and damaged tresses. Your hair will become softer, more moisturized and conditioned, and will not look lumpy.
Frizz is caused by factors like chlorinated water, use of blow dryers, curlers and straightener, certain alcohols and chemicals present in hair products, and not following a good hair care habit. Therefore, apart from trying the ayurvedic herbs, you also need to change your bad habits related to hair, and adopt the good habits.
Before we get into the hair secrets from Ayurveda, I would like to tell you about a few habits that you need to adopt to treat your untamed unmanageable hair.
1. Moisturize your hair better
Whenever your hair is dry, it becomes frizzy. So the most basic solution to this problem is to moisturize your hair, from root to tips, better. You can invest in a more natural conditioner or prepare one at home using natural ingredients. These will hydrate your hair and your scalp better.
Also, you need to completely dodge hair care products that contain sulfate. These are a complete no-no since they wreak further havoc on your already damaged hair.
You should try products that contain carrier oils like coconut oil, castor oil and/or olive oil. Also, products with argon oil, avocado oil, sebacic acid and silicone are really good for the hair.
2. Lay off the heat
Stop using heating irons, curlers and even dryers. As you know your hair is damaged, dry and frizzy because of the lack of moisture. When it’s frizzy, your hair takes more place my expanding further to get moisture from the environment. By using a heating iron, you are ruining your hair’s ability to retain moisture, thus increasing its frizz.
3. You can ionic if you think you cannot stop straightening, curling or drying your hair
According to the hair stylist, Dueñas to Elle magazine,
“Ionic heat tools help your hair lay smoother and or dry faster. An Ionic blow dryer that I like to use is the Conair 3Q, It helps break up the water molecules into smaller clusters, therefore, drying your hair faster with less heat. Your hair is positively charged, so using the negative charges of an ionic tool, say for straightening, help reverse your hair, and help it lay down smoother.”
4. Maintain a balance when it comes to washing your hair
Shampooing your hair every day is not a good idea. It can ruin the quality of your hair by stripping your tresses of its natural moisture and oil. Also the chemicals in the shampoo make your hair dull and frizzy and extremely unmanageable.
However, if you don’t wash your hair with water every day and with shampoo twice a week, you will cause the build-up of dirt and grease in the pores and the hair shafts. So you need to find the right balance when it comes to keeping your hair and scalp clean.
5. Use silk pillowcases
Not many people know this, but using silk pillowcases while sleeping will help you reduce hair breakage. To further lower the damage to your hair, you can tie your hair into a braid, use a shower cap to cover it, and then sleep on your silk pillowcase.
What makes cotton pillowcases bad for your hair is that the tresses tend to get rubbed against the material, breaking, and thus becoming brittle and extremely frizzy.
6. Treat your hair with the superfoods available at home
You need not go any further than your kitchen to find the best hair care ingredients. From castor oil and olive oil to bananas and avocados, we all know how beneficial these amazing home remedies are for brittle and dry hair and also for hair growth.
