Some lessons are best learnt after years of seeing someone experience something. From heartbreaks to joy, from dates to real love, from botched careers to a career high —these phases in life are a staple for any twenty something. FRIENDS, the very name is almost a brand that relates across countries to make a splash as a sitcom that wooed millions. It would be fair to call it a slice of life, as we aspired it to be.

The day Rachel walked into Central Perk to a gawking bunch of friends sitting over a cuppa, our worlds of love for American television took a turn that was as exhilarating as it was unexpected. From her androgynous looks flaunting chequered shirts to her well-fitted crop tops in black, there is a whole lot of awesomeness in her fashion that we can relate to even now.

Move over the clothes, her bags, shoes, hair cut — especially the bob in the earlier seasons —are all still relevant today. The best look we loved on Mon was the way she dressed up in Vegas — yes, in the one where she almost got hitched to Chandler. Pastels, loose hair, sleek cuts — you name it and we will have one awesome element for modern day fashion inspired by Monica.

3. Uber-gorgeous and always a diva – Rachel

The one character that has always had the maximum of everything – fanfare, buzz, coverage — Jennifer Aniston, indeed made a blockbuster here. The Rachel cut, though seen as overhyped, is hankered after by many women even today. Her poker straight hair, seen in later seasons, is what 2015 fashionistas swear by.

The Casanova, the hunk, the cool lover, Joey’s fashion on FRIENDS gives us a lot of inspiration even today. The turtle necks were oh-so-hip. 9. The intelligent and studious one – Ross

When it comes to a serious and successful (err!) college professor who used to be a geek all his life, you do not expect any fashion lesson, do you? But then, Ross, perfectly portrayed by David Schwimmer, is a different deal. The best element from Ross’ fashion sense on FRIENDS to borrow in this age and time are his round-neck tees that work well with anything from chinos to denims.
