As I look around me, I am sick of the exhibitionism that has crept into everything. From updating one’s go at swissball curl exercises to letting the world know what one’s having for a (quick?!?) breakfast before heading out for work, this epidemic is claiming millions on the go. But the worst realm hit has to be relationships. Undoubtedly, the relationship trends that have emerged as a result of such pathogens injected into the formerly healthy relationships are sick!
While we take you for a tour of these relationship trends that seem to have absolutely zilch use but latch on like a leech nonetheless, we’d like for you to pick up a notebook and a pen and scribble away- coz here’s ALL you should NOT do, ever:

1. ‘Click and post’ relfies

One of the most annoying relationship trends, this one irks sane ones like me no end. While all of us know the emotional premium we place by moments captured, there is simply no reason we need to see 200 relfies at one place- where all that varies in the pictures is the slight inch by which you have modified your smile, pout or whatever-the-fuck that weird expression is called! If you didn’t quite get the message there- let me spell it out for you- U.S.E.L.E.S.S!
2. Labeling your relationship
Relationship labels do not hold much clout for me. Not when you can change that label in a matter of clicks or taps! I mean most people today are fine with exclusively hanging out, enjoying time together and even sleeping together- but may either run too quick in the direction of dropping down to one knee and popping the big question with an even bigger rock or run towards the exit whenever the C-word is mentioned! But come to talk of what Facebook displays and any discrepancy calls for a fight! Where do you find the ‘right thing’ in this mad jungle, pray tell me!
3. Baby-talk

And I am not alone in this one. Well, I hope not. The shona-jaanu-pumpkin-honey and all their variations kind of talk with stretchy syllables, baby intonation and a voice that shall make you want to slap them straight isn’t quite my cup of tea! I do need tequila after I see these samples around, though! What good comes from giving me such a bad hangover, huh?
4. FOMO

When you live in a culture where every move of yours is validated by how many likes, shares and comments your picture/post/status garnered on social media, this gross sickness has to kick in, right? Fear of missing out, for the uninitiated, FOMO is a real danger and has couples caving in left, right and center! So no real dates, no real relationships- only a real catching up with ALL there is to see! Gargantuan ambition, if you ask me!
5. The Ex-games
The internet has made the world a much smaller place- so seriously, running into your ex, his like, comment or even an update from his recent vacation is no big deal. Except that it is- when it creeps into your relationship! And yet, we will all act the ‘mod’ version of ourselves- coz hey, unfriending and blocking is like oh-so-tacky! :/
5. The Ex(clusive) Text Game

No phone time is the death of a relationship and yet, I see most couples busy using this thumb-mode as a rule of thumb to make their relationship thrive! All I want to say- LOL! And sorry, texting doesn’t quite give away the tone- so yeah, duh uh- I was being sarcastic- now will ya pick up that damn thing and dial the digits already?
7. Regressive romance

When trust, loyalty, commitment, love and more that goes into the making of a strong relationship is now gauged by whether or not the phone is inside the pocket or handbag when you meet and out to call/text YOU as soon as you part, you know something is wrong somewhere! Whatever happened to romance, folks! I say bring it back! No seriously!
