1. Bride Wars (2009)

This absolute masterpiece by Vera Wang can make even the biggest skeptics shed a wedding tear. This dress was not only the most exquisite wedding dress ever created, but it played a rather important role in the fight between childhood besties Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Liv (Kate Hudson). We will always be irrevocably in love with what can only be described as a work of art. Every single element of the dress is perfect. The off-shoulder sweetheart neckline, the drop-waist fitted bodice, the gorgeous tulle skirt… all make for the quintessential wedding dress. But the real twist is created by the purplish-grey colored ribbon that was tied around the waist, with the tails haphazardly arranged on the skirt of the dress.

Sex and the City has always been responsible for showcasing and starting some of the biggest fashion trends ever (remember the vest/tulle skirt dress?). So it was no surprise that when Carrie Bradshaw decided to walk down the aisle, she’d wear something absolutely breath-taking. This couture wedding dress by Vivienne Westwood was exactly that… breath-taking. This dress simply screams high-fashion. Vivienne Westwood took a classic ballgown wedding dress and turned it into an absolute masterpiece. We love the edgy fitted bodice with the high-fashion version of a sweetheart neckline. And don’t even get us started on the two-tiered silk skirt that added the over-the-top glamour this dress needed, especially due to its unusual lack of embellishments and the simple and sober champagne color.

If you weren’t a part of either Team Jacob or Team Edward during the Twilight Saga obsession period (circa 2008-2012), then you’re a bigger person than I am. Movie choices aside, nobody can deny that this Carolina Herrera wedding dress is just stunning!! This dress exudes sophistication and class. The sober A-line silhouette and the plain satin finish matched Bella’s low-maintenance IDGAF nature, while the exquisite lace and bead detailing at the back and the lace-work on the sleeves exuded Edward’s traditional charm. The little peek-a-boo action at the back was a stroke of pure genius as it brought the dress into the 21st Century. This is the dress you want to wear down the aisle if you want your guests to talk about how beautiful you looked even 28338 years after the wedding!
4. Funny Face (1957)

This tea-length Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face is probably one of the most famous movie wedding dresses of all time. Not only did it help put tea-length wedding dresses on the “wedding map,” but also put Hepburn among the fashion front-runners in the industry. This dress is a timeless piece and will look just as fashionable today as it did in 1957. We love the poofy tulle skirt and how it contrasts with the surprisingly contemporary boat-neck drop-waist top.

Yet another classic wedding dress. This ivory-colored silk wedding dress worn by Marie (Julie Andrews) in the classic The Sound of Music, was one of the most beautiful wedding dresses ever made. We can’t get enough of how perfectly the dress fitted her and how exquisite she looked without showing even an inch of skin. The Chinese collar and the flower-wreathe-veil made the ensemble look a lot more contemporary and chic. This dress would be perfect for a church wedding, even today!

This dress is every boho-chic bride’s dream! It perfectly embodies Sophie’s (Amanda Seyfried) flower-child spirit. We love how young and fun this dress is. The dress is loose-fitted, with loads of tulle and bead-work, all brought together with a satin ribbon tied at the waist. This dress is exactly what you’d expect a princess/queen to wear when she walks down the aisle. The simple A-line silhouette makes the dress look sober and sophisticated. The intricate lace-work illusion neckline adds something extra to the dress, all while maintaining the conservative nature of the dress. Needless to say, Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) was an absolute vision in white, even though she didn’t actually get married and instead used this opportunity to convince the Parliament members to ditch their patriarchal views and allow her to rule the country without having to get married.
8. Mirror Mirror (2012)

Yes, yes, we know she’s evil. But hey, just coz she’s an evil queen who tried to kill Snow White, doesn’t mean she can’t have a ballin’ taste in fashion! This dress is regal and just plain badass. We love the full princess ballgown skirt, with countless silk leaves stitched on to the skirt and the fitted bodice. The off-shoulder neckline adds a tiny little sexy element to the dress, while the poofy peasant-sleeves add to the over-the-top look of this show-stopping dress!
9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010)

Fleur Delacour was an absolute diva. So it was of little surprise that her wedding dress was drop dead gorgeous! This dress looks like something Karl Lagerfeld would design, what with all the badass detailing going on. We love the layered organza skirt and how edgy and ragged it looks in contrast with the immaculately detailed top! The black swans that start at the illusion neckline and extend till the skirt, add to the uniqueness of this dress. This dress is perfect for the non-conventional bride who wants to look like a badass swan princess (so… pretty much all of us).

This dress worn by Charlie (Jennifer Lopez) is not only absolutely breath-taking, it also promotes body positivity. This movie showed how Charlie and her curves stood out in a world of thin women. She was even teased by her future “monster-in-law” Viola (Jane Fonda) about how she’d never be able to fit into a pretty wedding dress if she continued to eat the way she did. So Charlie went ahead and designed her own wedding dress that fitted her curves perfectly (understatement of the century). Feminist rant aside, this dress is exquisite. We love the deep-neck sweetheart neckline and the fitted bodice of the dress.
11. The Runaway Bride (1999)

Even though Julia Roberts did not end up wearing this dress for her actual wedding to Richard Gere’s character, this wedding dress is among the most memorable movie wedding dresses ever. The dress looks like something Barbie would wear at her wedding (we mean that in the best way possible). We love the bell-shaped skirt with the satin ribbon-work and the illusion neckline. The dress is fun, youthful, and very chic.
12. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

This is probably the edgiest movie wedding dress ever. We love the layered ruffles on the skirt and the unique Mockingjay symbol so artfully crafted out of wire on the bodice. Also, it literally burst into flames in the movie. You really can’t get more dramatic than that. While the fire was included to make a political statement, maybe skip that bit and keep the edgy couture wedding dress bit to make a fashion statement instead.
