In our perennial search for Mr Right, we meet a number of Mr Rights now that never quite make it to the final lap to become a Mr Right forever! And coz Hollywood sure understands the drill, it gives us some flesh-and-blood pieces of inspiration ever-so-often to keep us on our paths of looking for Mr Right. After all, we need to believe that he who must be had isn’t elusive, right? 😉 I mean, sure, we’d love for him to be Ryan Gosling or Charlie Hunnam – but we’d settle for somebody who is half as delicious – wouldn’t we?

Alright ladies, it is TIME now to relive memories of these on-screen Mr. Right-s who we so wish, wish, wish, we’d chance upon in real life – so, let’s eye those criminally hot hunks of Hollywood who stole our hearts and have been making the hollow space in our chest ache for their touch, their words, their whisper, their kiss, their love – anything from *them* ever since!! Coz they are everything we ever wanted in a Mr Right, right? <swoon>
Here are our top picks for the perfect Mr Right-s straight out of the movies:
1. Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun in ‘The Notebook’

He had to be on top of the list, didn’t he? I guess I’ve won the show already. 😉 Still, I’ll take you through it all. When it comes to love, there’s nothing like one that stands the test of time. And Noah Calhoun is a breathing nominal of this love. Yes, I know Nicholas Sparks’ novels-turned-movies are way overrated, but our charming hero, with his undying devotion to his love of a lifetime takes away our hearts in the blink of an eye. *Poof*
2. Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson in ‘Titanic’

Speaking of love that stands the test of time, we couldn’t really rule out one of the most iconic romantic characters ever, could we? Jack Dawson is the quintessential romantic mate we’d want to meet, fall in love with, and never be separated from. But even if we did, we’d be as certain as Rose that our true love would have us united someday. Someday!
3. Tom Cruise as Jerry Maguire in ‘Jerry Maguire’

Tom Cruise. Need I say more? Okay, okay – here – when our hero realizes that the only woman who believed in him meant much more to him than the assistant he had a marriage of convenience with, we well up. And ohh, when he does pour his heart out to his lady love at the end of the movie, we do not even have to wait for the ‘you complete me.’ He has us at ‘hello.’ Hello, Mr Maguire, where can I sign up – for finding Mr Right with you? 😉
4. Will Smith as Alex Hitchens in ‘Hitch’

The smooth, suave, and sexy ‘date doctor’ himself learns a thing or two when he has to try harder than the ‘rules’ he makes a living by to win over the smart, quick-witted, and even sexier gossip columnist, Sara Melas. And while at the end, he does know that all he had to do was be himself, and thinks he has lost her – she returns, coz well, this ‘hitch’ happened a lot smoother than the contrived one. All together now – awwwwww! <blush blush>

5. Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby in ‘The Great Gatsby’

I cannot even begin to describe the effect Jay Gatsby has on me – he looks at his girl the way every girl wants to be looked at, he desires her with a passion every girl dreams of, and he loves her with all the intensity of a new universe being formed. Oh, how I wish I could be his Daisy now, and walk arm-in-arm with him through the autumnal blooms! <sigh>
6. Cary Grant as Nickie Ferrante in ‘An Affair To Remember’

Now, this is one of those cult movies that you could not have missed. And if you did, I am possibly judging you. Nothing, and I repeat, nothing, I could say would do justice to the romance that bombards your insides when you are watching him sweep his lady love off her feet.
7. Clint Eastwood as Robert Kincaid in ‘The Bridges of Madison County’
How often, in those times, did we get to see a glimpse of a man igniting those passions in a married woman that she had tucked away in a remote corner of her being whilst choosing to ‘settle’ in a loveless marriage? Not so often – especially when an intriguing man with oodles of understated eloquence makes her walk right into LOVE-scape, with everything she had been missing – albeit with no future! If only they lived in the here and now!
8. Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump in ‘Forrest Gump’

The larger-than-life capacity to love. Isn’t that THE DREAM?? From protecting Jenny from her abusive father, to helping her heal after years of hard living, to making her last days as comfortable as possible, Forrest’s main goal in life was simple: to be with Jenny. That’s like the HIGHEST level of romantic there is.

9. John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler in ‘Say Anything’

Don’t we always melt away when a simple, town-sy dude (with conspicuous lack of post high-school career goals) wins over a beautiful brainiac?? Well, Cusack had us melting in a mush puddle with his simple devotion to the girl he’d only had the cudgels to admire, from afar. Well, until he found it in him to hold that boombox blasting Peter Gabriel’s ‘In Your Eyes’ just outside her bedroom window. <He’s still in my eyes (and this list) – for that alone>
10. Michael Schoeffling as Jake Ryan in ‘Sixteen Candles’

The movie itself asserts, ‘he’s the whole package.’ And when a high school popular dude can make women in their twenties and even thirties swoon, there’s bound to be something special about him. Only there isn’t – he is the quintessential high school hottie who notices the freckly, insecure everygirl Samantha Baker, and turns up to celebrate her sweet sixteen when her family has quite forgotten about this major event. And it is in this ohh-so-common-Jakeology that he quite steals our heart. Coz he is that hope – that’s too-good-to-be-true.
Tell us about the ones who stole your heart away but didn’t quite make it on our heart-picked list. Perhaps, we’d like a li’l flutter too! And a little motivation in looking for Mr Right as well! There’s a comments section down below, just for that! 😉
