Nobody, and I repeat nobody, likes being the newbie in an office. But if you happen to be an office newbie (oops), here are a few things you will instantly relate to:
1. The introductions shall be one long snoozefest that you will have to be wide awake in. After all, you may not remember the names right after they are uttered but you gotta remember faces to see who you can enroll as your partner-in-crime in the office.

2. You feel a wee bit embarrassed to ask where the washroom is, so you hold on. ALL DAY! OR….OR…and this one’s worse, you do find the washroom but your boss is in the next cubicle- so all you can do is flush and leave!
3. There will be an office mishap (as there always is) and you will be the one people will think of- as the source. Why not- the coffee maker isn’t working or the copier had a paper jam- it has to be the office newbie!

4. When you don’t receive replies for a question, you have three options- to ask again, to find an answer on your own or simply shut the eff up, for a while- maybe a week or a whole month!

5. Your first true office friend will be a coffee mug. Or a pen or even toilet paper!

6. You are asked to take on *some issue of importance* with John. Only you don’t know who the f*ck he is. AND you CANNOT ask!

7. You are scared to check your phone. It’s like knowing an itchy spot and resisting the urge to itch. You know it will bring relief and yet….. :/
8. You arrive early and leave late- even though all you do all day is try and win the staring competition with your stationary.

9. You try to be friendly to everybody- which, in turn, raises suspicious eyes, becomes fodder for gossip, makes you the new office buffoon or simply the guy/girl who makes a weird noise when trying to laugh at everyone’s jokes. EVERYONE’s. Worse, you become ‘the newbie who’s trying too hard.’

10. And just when you begin to fit in because someone finds that weird snorty laughter cute, you end up unleashing the REAL you you’ve been stifling for so long… and then…
…if you are lucky, nothing! 😉
